About Renée Pigsley, LPC

Professionally, I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in midtown Fort Collins, CO. I also hold licensure in Nebraska (Licensed Mental Health Practitioner/LMHP), and provide counseling sessions via telehealth to folks living anywhere in Nebraska. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2015, and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2017. Recently, in 2024, I completed my certificate in horticultural therapy from the Horticultural Therapy Institute out of Denver. This allows me to integrate the evidence-based use of gardening, therapeutically, in my treatment with clients when requested. Education and training have allowed me to practice, but my own experiences in life have fueled my passion for walking with clients through change.

A general belief that guides my work is the understanding that each client knows themselves best, and that my role is to help facilitate self-exploration in a warm, yet direct way. This often includes some focus on experiences and relationships that have had significant impact in life, as well as the big picture: how we view the world and the roles we inhabit within it. Big changes are rarely made overnight, and I view our sessions as the starting point for developing the skills and muscle memory needed to take action outside of our meetings.

In addition to my professional identity, I am an analyst by nature. Digging for puzzle pieces in my own and others’ stories is a strong trait. This shows up in who I am as a therapist, friend, family member, and mother (which has been its own unexpectedly wild journey!). In my free time, I enjoy being outside as much as I can and going on adventures with my family, friends, and animals. Usually, that takes the form of gardening, hiking, rock climbing, or watching a new documentary while crocheting if the weather calls for hibernation.
